Stefano Poletti is Assistant Professor at the Heinrich Schliemann-Institut of the University of Rostock. He studied Classics at the Scuola Normale Superiore and the University of Pisa. In 2017 he received his PhD from the Scuola Normale Superiore (cotutelle de thèse with the University of Rostock) with a dissertation on Petronius’ Bellum civile.
During his PhD he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge (2013) and at the University of Rostock (2014-2015).
His main research interests are Latin epic (in particular the representation of the divine apparatus) and the Satyrica. His most recent publications focus on biblical exegesis and rhetorical and narrative strategies in ancient historiography as well as ancient commentary on Vergil (especially Servius and his manuscript tradition).
